Echoes from Eko offers a glimpse into the heart of Lagos, Nigeria—a city rich with stories passed down through generations. Raised as a first-generation American-born Nigerian, my mother instilled Yoruba culture in me through language, films, and the flavors of home. After twenty years away, I returned to Lagos to reconnect with family and explore the neighborhoods that shaped our history.

Known as “Eko” by its indigenous people, Lagos is the cultural pulse of Nigeria and a key link to the Black diaspora. Through traditional Yoruba sayings and powerful imagery, this book explores universal themes of love, resilience, community, and spirituality. Echoes from Eko is more than a collection of photographs; it’s a tribute to the enduring spirit and legacy of the Nigerian people, bridging our past, present, and future.
